The Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau promoted the MICE offer of the Girona region at a lunch-debate at Le Bristol Hotel in Paris on 18 May, with a three-star Michelin menu created by the chef Éric Fréchon, served with DO Empordà wines.
Some 15 event planning agencies were invited. Participants took part in a networking session structured around a lunch in which members of the CBGCB made several speeches about the offer of the destination. Around the table, the needs of the agencies were discussed, as well as the various MICE proposals of the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees.
The session was led by a moderator who put forward the matters to be debated. This format encouraged maximum interaction between all participants, with an interesting proposal in a pleasant setting. Participants showed special interest about incentive activities connected with the destination. Regarding their preferences for accommodation choices for their groups, quality and diversity of the offer were two common places.
The initiative was part of the action organised by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board in collaboration with the Catalan Tourist Board of France, consisting of three simultaneous lunches for Wine Gastronomy and Culture, MICE and Premium products.
Wine gastronomy: the meeting place
The evening will finish off with a dinner presentation organised by the Wine & Business Club at Le Bristol Hotel. The club brings together members and top managerial staff of the leading companies and liberal professionals in Paris that have a common interest in wine.
These evening meals are held every month, with a specific theme. On this event, the motive will be the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees, with presentations of the destination. The speeches by Joan Roca, the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí and Peralada Festival will give a wine, gastronomy and cultural perspective. Obviously, Girona Excel·lent products will be tasted and the evening meal, also organised by the chef Éric Fréchon, will be paired with DO Empordà wines.
We participate in the MICE Congress of the Spanish Tourism Office (OET)
On 23 May, we were back to Paris to participate in the Congress organised by Turespaña through the Paris Spanish Tourism Office and with the collaboration of the Spain Convention Bureau. Some of the members of the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau were also there: Evenia Hotels, URH Hotels, Hotel Santa Marta and Sallés Hotels.
We also presented the Costa Brava – Girona Pyrenees destination at two workshops: one in the morning aimed at travel managers and corporate organisers, and another in the afternoon, addressed to MICE agencies.
A “wine route” through the various participating destinations of Spain lived up the session. The DO Empordà was represented by one of the proposals from La Vinyeta cellar.
