Skydive Empuriabrava – The Land of the Sky parachuting company is to invest in CO2 reduction projects so as to offset the carbon footprint created by its activity.
The Empuriabrava skydiving centre is one of the most prestigious in the world and this year plans to carry out over 70,000 jumps with 4,000 light aircraft flights. In order to offset the CO2 emissions resulting from this activity, the company will invest in Verified Carbon Standard certified projects with the aim of achieving positive effects in the environment to neutralise the carbon footprint generated.
Some of these projects involve forestry protection and reforestation actions in Brasil, the Amazon, Malawi and Turkey, for instance. They will all be audited to ensure that they meet United Nations requirements for environmental and social benefit and that they improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of these areas.
Skydive Empuriabrava has joined forces with Klima Invest and Care All Foundation to carry out this initiative, which is part of its corporate social responsibility policy. In the first four years of this policy’s implementation, Skydive Empuriabrava has donated more than €80,000 to charitable causes.
