The annual MICE meeting held by the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau in Barcelona brought together over seventy professionals from event agencies and corporate meeting planners from the metropolitan area of Barcelona and thirty-six representatives from business tourism companies in the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees area.
The participants, managers of event planning agencies and representatives from Barcelona-based companies and associations interacted with the 36 representatives from accommodation and service companies and events planners specialising in business tourism in the province of Girona that collaborated in the organisation and running of the event.
The range of meeting and incentive options available in the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees area was presented to participants by means of an escape room, a participatory game format facilitated by the member companies of the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau. The comedian Víctor Parrado was the presenter for the evening’s event, which was held at Pangea The Travel Store, in the centre of Barcelona.
Putting the MICE professionals to the test
To solve the enigma of the Costa Brava Girona Escape Room, the participants had to find the answers to the puzzles set by the Girona MICE companies regarding genuine features of the business tourism range in the province of Girona. These tests took participants on a whirlwind tour of such typical places and themes as the volcanoes of the Garrotxa region, the D.O. Empordà wine route, Dalí’s surrealism, the legends of Girona and the Indiano architecture in Lloret.
A recreation of summer nights on the Costa Brava provided the scenario for the cocktail dinner, served by the Sala Gran restaurant and featuring locally-sourced regional produce and D.O. Empordà wines.
This fun, participatory event more than lived up to the expectations created by the innovative character of previous years’ meetings. Participants welcomed the opportunity to network and discover the original, new proposals of an alternative destination to the big European cities.
