Espai Cràter is the benchmark centre for volcanos, science and society. Backed by Olot City Council, the project aims to be a meeting point for the educational, social and scientific communities. At the same time, it seeks to generate new opportunities for the city’s different sectors and work in an innovative, experiential and participative way to tackle global challenges impacting the local level.
Located inside Puig del Roser volcano, the new building has been designed as another element of the experience and it houses a fully interactive exhibition.
Spread across several spaces, the Espai Cràter exhibition explains the volcanos of Garrotxa and the world, as well as the particular relationship between volcanos and their environments. The exhibit is 100% interactive and presented using varied media: audiovisual, immersive experiences, photographs and video mapping.
There is also a 15m2 model which shows how the Garrotxa region was formed, with gamification elements and many other surprises. The exhibition also includes a large clay slope that allows us to look into Puig del Roser volcano and confirm that we really are inside it.
Espai Cràter’s permanent exhibition has been curated by Geociències Barcelona – CSIC, and developed by Indissoluble. Its exceptional content and design make this the leading vulcanological exhibition in Spain.
Espai Cràter offers spaces for organisations, companies and institutions to hold their corporate and social events, which can be complemented with private and exclusive visits to the exhibition, adapted to each client’s needs.
