AEDEMO seminar

The television of the future –which has more technology, more innovations and a more promising future than ever before– was recently the focus of a seminar in Girona. The multiscreen, online-only shows and the role of social media television were only a handful of the extensive range of issues discussed at the event.

Today’s information society changes every second and new technologies play a crucial role in the media. The AEDEMO seminar celebrated in Girona once again underscores the fact that nobody wants to be left behind when it comes to the television of the future.

The challenge
The aim of the conference was to evaluate the current situation of the industry and discuss its future trends. The conference is regarded as the most important gathering in the television world on a national level. The Girona edition included three days of activities, with four talk sessions, discussions and a round table. There were a total of 37 speakers from around the country and almost 350 people registered.

Coordination and flow
The Girona Conference Centre was the centre point for all the activities. The event was kicked off with a magic show by Charlie Mag, which took place in collaboration with the Tourist Office of the Costa Brava-Girona, during which participants were officially welcomed to the conference.

During the sessions, the success story of the new transmedia series “Em dic Manel, l’evolució de les espècies…” (“My name is Manel: the evolution of the species…”) and TEN, a new digital TV channel, were presented, among others. There were also projects on audience measurement and debates on the new ways of presenting content.
The event is centred around the latest developments in television in Spain, and the majority of presentations provided multimedia content. The technical team at the Conference Centre played a key role in ensuring projections were well coordinated and good quality.

Tastes of Girona
Following on from the intensive central day of the conference, participants had the chance to enjoy an organised dinner in the Mas Marroch room at the famous Celler de Can Roca restaurant. The pre-dinner reception took place in the grand new natural pergola, known as Àgora, which was built with stone and wood from the original cover of the country house. Joan Roca himself gave a talk that complemented the gastronomic experience at the world’s best restaurant.
There were also welcome drinks on the first day, held at the Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants, one of the most outstanding examples of Catalan Romanesque architecture, which added a touch of history to the participants’ first meeting. The night owls continued the evening at the Casino de Girona music bar.
The closing drinks also took place at the Girona Conference Centre, with catering provided by Local Market, who prepare all of their dishes with local products from Girona.

Outcome
The conference organising committee collected the evaluations of the participants on various aspects of the 32nd edition of the meeting. The section on organisation achieved a record result compared to previous years. In the words of the conference coordinator, Luis Pistoni, “An extremely high standard has been set: next year’s edition has a lot to live up to. We decided to bring our event to Girona because it is a pleasant, welcoming city. The staff at the Congress Centre helped us in every aspect affecting our seminar. Two long days in Girona that have deserved the best rating in the 32 editions of our seminar. THANK YOU!!”
