The sixth edition of Dragon Boat Festival in Banyoles included the participation of the first Dragon Boat team in Spain, created less than a year ago in Badalona
To attract a broader public, the festival includes a varied offer of complementary activities throughout the day, such as Zumba or Bubble Football classes, among others.
Some weeks ago, Jordi Congost, the deputy mayor of Banyoles; Ramon Ramos, the general director of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and Albert Busquets, the manager of Club de Natació de Banyoles attended the presentation. They all highlighted the importance of events such as the Dragon Boat Festival to consolidate Banyoles as a sports tourism destination.
Miquel Juncà, the director of the festival, emphasised the strong growth of this sport all over the world. He also hinted at the possibility that in a few years’ time, Dragon Boat could become an Olympic sport. This is why Banyoles wishes to position itself as the entrance gate for this sport in Catalonia and Spain.
On the day of the presentation, 18 members of the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau and of the Active Tourism Club of the Tourist Board had the opportunity to learn about the great possibilities of Dragon Boat, by participating in a competition that ended up with a meal along with the team of Dragon Boat Emotions in the beautiful setting around Banyoles Lake. Without a doubt, this is a highly recommendable activity for promoting teamwork and offering an entertaining, enriching experience as part of a company events programme.
