In June this year we showcased the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau’s range of options at two of the sector’s important congresses that attract professional planners from various European markets.
First, we took part again in the M&I Forum Europe Summer, which was held in Dubrovnik this year from 5thto 9thJune. It was attended by about four hundred professionals from different European countries interested in keeping abreast of the new developments in the sector.
Throughout the four-day M&I Forum we held fifty individual interviews, complemented with networking activities and events to put us in direct contact with European planners and agencies.
The contacts that we made here generated information requests to organise specific events and applications to come and discover the destination through fam trips and research visits.
From 7thto 10thJune we were in the Dutch city of The Hague to take part in this year’s MICE Peak. It was attended by thirty-five agencies and professional planners from Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Austria along with twenty-eight representatives of companies and destinations from various European countries. These included the Catalunya Convention Bureau, the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau and the Hotel Camiral & PGA Catalunya Resort.
The congress kicked off with group presentations as a means of making an initial contact and these led on to a workshop involving individual meetings. In addition to holding a dozen interviews, we took an active part in the event’s social programme, with visits, group activities and a variety of functions.
The attendees at this year’s MICE Peak represent a market with a high potential for our destination.
At both events we found that a large proportion of the attendees that we met already knew the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees as a holiday destination and were enthusiastic about our range of MICE options as an alternative to the big European cities.
