The 2017 edition of Meet Catalunya, held in Lloret de Mar, enjoyed the significant participation of companies and institutions from the province of Girona.
In addition to the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau, the Lloret de Mar Convention Bureau and the Girona City Convention Bureau, there were some 20 companies from the MICE sector in the Girona region represented, from the hotel, services and organisation of activities sectors.
The yearly meeting of the Catalan business tourism sector and the international market, organised by the Catalan Tourist Board (ACT) through the Catalunya Convention Bureau, with the collaboration of the Lloret de Mar Convention Bureau, brought together 92 Catalan companies and 80 agencies and professionals from 19 different countries.
Reception and workshop in Lloret de Mar
The Santa Clotilde Gardens in Lloret de Mar were the unique setting for the reception dinner, which was attended by the director of the Catalan Tourist Board, Xavier Espasa, and the mayor of Lloret de Mar, Jaume Dulsat.
The workshop was held the following day at the Gran Casino Costa Brava Conference Centre in Lloret de Mar, a member of the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau.
Just before the workshop started, we were given the opportunity to present the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees destination together with other Catalan MICE destinations. Following the line of priorities set by the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau, some 15 meetings were held with operators from the Nordic, French and British markets.
Publicising our proposal
At the end of the workshop, there were several fam trips. The Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau proposal started that afternoon with an outing on a burricleta (an electronically-assisted pedal bike) through Pals as far as the restaurant Es Portal, where there was an evening meal.
For the first night, the group stayed at La Costa Golf & Beach Resort, from where it went on to Empuriabrava to fly in the Windoor Realfly Wind Tunnel. The afternoon was spent visiting the ruins of Empúries before going to Hotel Ilunion Caleta Park in S’Agaró, where participants were given a welcoming cocktail and a “blind evening meal”.
On the final day, there was a prawn tasting session aboard the boat Rafael in Palamós, with the company Tela Marinera. The last point on the programme was a lunch and a visit to Hotel Camiral.
The Meet Catalunya finished off with an evening meal in Barcelona for all the participants.
