Monestir de Sant Pere de Rodes

Declared a Site of National Cultural Interest by the Government of Catalonia, Sant Pere de Rodes is an ancient Benedictine monastery situated on the side of Verdera mountain, some 520 metres above sea level in an outstanding spot offering views of breathtaking scenery. There are two other monuments in the vicinity: the castle of Sant Salvador de Verdera is located at the top of the mountain and the pre-Romanesque church of Santa Creu de Rodes and the remains of its mediaeval village are located one kilometre to the north of the monastery. The site is not only historically important but beautiful, set in the heart of the Cap de Creus Natural Park.
