London was the setting chosen for launching TastEmotion, a new concept in commercial presentation for the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees destination.
Twelve UK travel agencies and journalists and five representatives from the province of Girona’s MICE sector convened by the Costa Brava Convention Bureau were the first participants to experience this new format of activity to promote the region.
On this occasion we were joined by the Girona City Convention Bureau, the Lloret Convention Bureau, Park Hotel San Jorge, Evenia Hotels and Santa Marta Hotel & Spa
A sensory journey
Five acts, five dishes cooked by the Michelin-starred chef Quim Casellas from the Restaurant Casamarin Llafranc and five wines from the D.O. Empordà Wine Route are the elements that make up the sensory itinerary proposed by TastEmotion, in a gourmet food and wine tour of the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees.
Projection mapping on the table, photos and videos on surrounding screens and a recorded commentary are used to present the destination and are complemented with aromatic effects, background music and unexpected twists in the script to encourage interaction among the participants at the right times.
This unique format suitable for a group of up to 20 people allows for a close, highly personal interaction with the participants, while also giving them the chance to gain “live” experience of the destination.
A pioneer initiative with potential
The UK professionals that attended the first edition of TestEmotion were very appreciative of the activity, praising its originality and showing an interest in participating in future events. They also welcomed the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees MICE sector as a highly competitive alternative to the big European cities in terms of planning events and incentives.
This activity forms part of a promotional strategy that includes visits to the principal travel agencies in the city along with fam trips and media trips to the region in the autumn.
The second session of TastEmotion took place in Paris in June, with the participation of 12 agencies and the presence of CBGCB members and representatives from the specialised press.

Upcoming editions of TastEmotion will be held in the cities of Milan and Munich.
